Request Account Deletion
You have the right to request deletion of your personal data from eWitness at any time. This page explains what gets deleted, what cannot be deleted, and how to submit your request.
SmartHash fingerprints registered on the Avalanche blockchain cannot be deleted by anyone — including eWitness. This is by design: the blockchain is immutable and decentralized. What we can delete is your personal data from our own servers and database.
What Will Be Deleted
- Your account profile and login credentials
- Your location, timestamp, and pseudo-identification records stored in the eWitness database
- Any personally identifiable information associated with your account
- Your usage history and analytics data held on our servers
What Cannot Be Deleted
- SmartHash fingerprints already recorded on the Avalanche blockchain — these are permanent and decentralized by design
- Photos and videos stored on your phone — these are never uploaded to our servers and remain entirely under your control
To remove media from your device, simply delete the files from your eWitness folder on your phone. Uninstalling the app does not delete these files automatically.
How to Submit a Deletion Request
Send an email to ewitness.jj@gmail.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request". Please include the following in your message:
- The email address or Google account you used to sign up for eWitness
- A brief statement confirming you wish to have your account and personal data deleted
- Any additional context that may help us locate your account (e.g. approximate date of registration)
We will respond and process your request within a reasonable time, typically within 30 days.

Timeline & Confirmation
After receiving your request, the eWitness team will:
- Acknowledge your request by email within 5 business days
- Complete the deletion of your personal data within 30 days
- Send you a confirmation email once deletion is complete
If you do not receive an acknowledgement within 5 business days, please resend your request or check your spam folder.
